HEATWAVES is an anthology series; each episode seeks to bring together a community of passionate creatives, allowing cross-disciplinary collaboration to bring a bespoke visual story to life - creating a platform for collaboration between both filmmaker and subject, creating new connections, bonds and networks within the community. Each chapter highlights a uniquely individual creative based in Naarm, brought to life by a director with their own style of storytelling. Each film showcases diverse, innovative practices across disciplines.
HEATWAVES paves the way for developing and exploring their world across future media platforms. Our space seeks to become a sanctuary for authentic expression, where being different is celebrated. Together, we rewrite the creative landscape, igniting a revolution of ideas.

Creative Director’s Statement
Solidarity in art.
When I moved to Australia in 2015, there wasn’t a space for diverse creatives or at least one I was aware of in the film world in Melbourne. I had to get used to being different, which helped me understand the perspectives of my new world.
But, I was also hungry to share, hear and create ideas with the minds on the flip side, those who strayed away from the local blueprints in their craft, and those who weren’t heard or heard of - the underdogs shifting the paradigm of the more established creative scene by doing it on their own terms. Most importantly, being outside the box,
I want to create a warm, nurturing and open-hearted space for newcomers to embrace their authenticity; it’s ok to be different. We must foster these minds to pave the way for new ideas, diversifying the mould of our creative scene.
We are here to create with creatives of untapped potential.

CIRCULAR STORYTELLING
From blank concept boards to visuals as captivating as our characters, we are embarking on a storytelling odyssey. Our immersive approach taps unexplored realms within our subjects, illuminating overlooked micro-moments.
We sync with the flow of each artist's practice and character, weaving a tapestry that invites the audience into the creative process in a captivating and dynamic way. This synergy between the subject and the filmmaker breathes authenticity into our creations as we create bespoke visual collages of diverse creative personalities.
Targeted towards culturally curious 18 to 35y/o’s, residing in both urban and suburban areas, this project appeals to those who broadly consume art, music, and gastronomy. It welcomes a diverse audience, including students, recent graduates, career changers, and of course, artists. Curious people, seeking inspiration and transformation.
Through this project, viewers can actively engage with the showcased artists, supporting their work and contributing to the flourishing arts market and economy. This endeavour enriches the audience experience and presents an enticing opportunity for investors to benefit from this vibrant creative movement. Encouraging collaboration by bridging the gap between creators and viewers, as well as breaking down barriers in the artistic community across a broad range of disciplines.

Our micro-documentaries venture into the digital realm, captivating audiences on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. A virtual sanctuary houses these mesmerising visual narratives, while partnerships with local galleries and events bring our project to life in locations across the city. Together, we forge new pathways, connecting deeply with our expanding audiences.
